The Polaris Ranger Crew can have a complicated electrical system due to the various accessories, like powered windows and heating/cooling units, it comes with. Even running it stock can cause electrical issues. Fortunately, these issues can be cheap to fix, provided that you know what you're doing and which electrical parts you need. For example, a friend of the site got a great deal on a light bar for his Northstar Crew, but it did not come with a wiring harness. We helped him out by providing separate switches, a pulse bar connector, a light bar harness, and a reverse light harness to turn the rear light on and off on its own. Even if you're not an expert in wiring, you can easily get the factory Polaris accessory wiring harness to make the process easier.

As with any vehicle, it's important to ensure that the electrical system of your Polaris Ranger Crew is functioning properly. Not only does this ensure that aftermarket accessories can be powered, but it also helps to avoid potentially dangerous short circuits. With the increasing reliance on computers and electronics in UTVs, even a momentary electrical short can cause serious problems for your machine.
One particular issue that can arise due to a short circuit is the activation or deactivation of turf mode on your Polaris Ranger Crew. Turf mode is a feature that helps to protect delicate surfaces such as grass and turf by limiting the amount of power that is sent to the wheels. However, if there is an electrical issue within your machine's wiring, turf mode can be inadvertently activated or deactivated. This can cause serious issues for riders and can even damage the vehicle itself.
One of our recent customers contacted us because they were experiencing intermittent shifts between turf and posi mode on their Polaris Ranger Crew. Upon inspection, we found that a short circuit was causing the issue. Fortunately, the models of the Polaris Ranger Crew have been designed differently. When the solenoid is de-energized on these models, it becomes a posi lock differential. This means that if there is an electrical issue within the wiring of the machine, it will not go in and out of turf mode.
While it may be tempting to simply delete turf mode altogether, this can cause other issues for riders. Full-time posi mode can cause excessive wear and tear on tires, particularly when driving on dry pavement. It can also make driving on wet streets extremely dangerous. Instead of opting for a drastic solution such as deleting turf mode, it's often better to look for simpler solutions to complex problems.
